Points for shards do not fit into a zero-sum DKP system...  Unless whomever receives the shard is willing to pay DKP for it.

/sigh

I edited the original post months ago so it was at least readable.  I make no claim to that atrocity above.

in other news...

I like the new system.

Many thanks Vult for doing the grunt work!

and damn you BK!

Would you still be able to 'buy' items when you are in the negative, and is there going to be a limit on how far into the negative you can go before you are stopped?

Yes you can 'buy' in the negative and there is no limit how far you can go.  If your the only one that wants the item then its all yours as long as you will put it too good use.

There any item restrictions?  IE, loot tables to go along with this system?

I'm not sure how this system changes to accomadate the problems that lead to the previous system having loot tables.
I don't know how much game is here. What I do know is that they have set up a system that allows me to rent my friends on a monthly basis.

4. Is this an open system that's player enforced or are we going to put some limitations on it where people spend their points on their raid role/spec first?

Still discussing this issue.

My general opinion on the subject is that itemization isn't going to be as bad...ie Hunter Lewt, Rogue Lewt etc.

With socketing, I'm thinking there really won't be as much cross class competition for items based on stats.

We won't know until we get there though.

Well done gents.  Im glad we arent taking SC into the "hardcore" realm.  Bliz has made things interesting with their class groupings on T4-T5 tokens.

T4-T5 token class groups:  If you just gear up warriors, priests are left behind.

-Warlock, Mage, Hunter
-Druid, Warrior, Priest
-Paladin, Rogue, Shaman

Paladins, Shaman, Druids all have 3 sets (can collect em all if you want), Warriors and Priests have 2 sets, and everyone else has one set.

Cross class competition for gear: Sockets do nothing to change this - as we all use the same colored sockets and get the same benefit (example: red socket - put a 20 AP gem or a +12 spell damage gem).  Feral druids dont fight for gear with rogues as much, but enhance shammies and hunters share the same gear.  Each class has a dungeon set with stats very close to T4.  The dungeon sets are able to be worn by any class, but they have class specific set bonuses.  As it stands right now, a lot of the blue gear from 70 dungeons are better than epics dropping from raids.

I suggest we all send in our gems to the guild bank and have dedicated jewelcrafters cut them so they level up thier skill quickly.  It would be nice to know who will be jewelcrafting before launch so we are up and running day one.

already being done, thread in raids and strats I think.

and it seems they've thought about token groupings a little more, any progressing guild is going to give drops to main tanks and healers first, kind of like how I feel guilty rolling on the zg chest token when priests need it. glad that won't be an issue, although with more raid utility I wouldn't be surprised to see tokens given to pallies and shaman before rogues get a chance at them.
I guess I can stfu now.

I'd rather, with the exception of the main tank, have the dkp talk.

Rogues need loot too, even if they'll be rolling against me. =)

I would like to add,

Please do not share this info for anyone outside of the guild.  Vulture has been working his ass of to get this loot system so us non-coders can actually see what the hell is going on.  Also, the officers have spent many hours of taking in feedback, constructive criticism, and personal experience in raiding into developing this loot system.  Currently there really is no similar loot system like it and I think when it's finished, everyone will be happy, and it will be something we could be proud of.

But for now, just keep it between guild members until it's set in stone.  We made this for YOU people.  And it's still shaping it's form.  Kanno did ask very good questions and it is stuff like this which will be discussed in our next meeting.

In order for the "gearing of the main tank" to take place, we need a main tank that is LITERALITY ( i cannot stress this enough) there for every raid (or 98% at the least).

I would love to call myself the "Main Tank" of the guild, and recieve frist dibs on all of the loot that drops for prot warriors, but I know that there will be many times where I need to miss raids and do stuff in RL.  So i cannot call myself anything more than a regular raider.

Tanks are special, in that they need to be consistant raiders.  The MT especially.

I didnt read anything about "main tanks" in our loot policy.  If we do go that route, (and boy do I hate to say this) perhaps our MT should be a druid.  Once I started level 70 content my groups always demanded bear tanks.  Tanking without swipe is almost impossible.  Its been over a month since Ive even seen a prot warrior, and I try to run a 5-10 man every day.  I have never done any 25 man content however.

I made a post about this in the warrior forums and from the 7 pages of responses I got in about an hour - they and blizz are fully aware of this issue.
